LITURGY

Serving St. Teresa of Avila through the Liturgy allows dedicated men and women within the ecclesiastical structure of parish life to both worship God and respond to the needs of His people. When we proclaim the Good News in Jesus Christ or of the Word of God itself, we share in the covenant relationship between God and His people. The Liturgy ministries offer a variety of ways to serve: in support of the Mass, through music, or within a committee.

CELEBRATING MASS

Altar Servers
Altar servers are dedicated and responsible boys and girls, grades 5 through high school, who assist the celebrant and Deacon at the Liturgy during weekend Masses and on Holy Days. For information, contact Maryanne Kaminski.

Adult Altar Servers for Funerals
This ministry seeks men and women who are interested in serving as altar servers for Masses held at St. Teresa’s. For information, contact Don Hartmann.

Eucharistic Ministers
Eucharistic Ministers are trained parishioners who assist with the distribution of Holy Communion at Mass, to the homebound, and to our parishioners in convalescent homes. The essence of this role is to draw faith from the people. For information, contact Maryanne Kaminski.

Greeters
As a ministry of hospitality, greeters welcome people as they arrive for Mass, with an emphasis on making the “newcomer” comfortable. Your efforts will reflect the warm, welcoming atmosphere that is St. Teresa of Avila. For information, contact Andrea Seward.

Lectors
Lectors are men and Women who proclaim the Scriptures at Mass, open to anyone of high school age and up. The essence of the role of Lector is to draw faith from the listeners, the people of God. For information, contact Maryanne Kaminski.

Ushers
Ushers ensure the Church is prepared for Mass, greet parishioners as they enter the church, collect the offering, arrange the offertory procession, distribute bulletins, seat people when necessary, and attend to needs during Mass when necessary. For information, contact Bob Barsi through the parish offices.

SERVICE IN COMMITTEES

Sanctuary Committee
The mission of the Sanctuary Ministry is to provide the necessary linens for each Mass, change altar clothes seasonally, refill altar candles, replace votive candles, and replace water in holy water fonts. For information, contact Bob and Marlene Sullivan

Treasury Committee
The Treasury Committee comprises a team of people who count the weekly offertory contributions and deposit them into the bank. Each team has a captain responsible for making the weekly deposit. For information, contact Gene Shugrue.

WORSHIP THROUGH MUSIC

Adult Choir
The Choir’s call is fundamentally musical, carried out through the music of the community of faith in worship. Music is a gift which bears the church’s praise, prayer, story, and proclamation around work, sacraments, and prayer. The center of the Choir’s task is the people’s song – leading people in their song. For information, contact Chris Shay.

Instrumental Music
The Music Ministry of St. Teresa’s provides the congregation with God’s music during weekend Mass, Holy Days, Funerals, or Weddings, whenever the presence of song is most important at the celebration. For information, contact
Tina Walewski.

Youth Choir
The Youth Choir brings together parish youth from grades 2 through 12 at weekend, Christmas, and Easter masses, enhancing the Liturgy through their musical gifts. For information, contact Tina Walewski.
