Youth Choir - Lets Sing!
After the rain we could all use some sunshine. I know what does it for me. Singing! Join us for our 18th season of making music. We will be doing a lot of new music form our recent mission trip along with our old favorites. Choir is open to those in 2nd - 12th grades and offers all the opportunity to raise your voices in praise and share your gift of music with our parish. Pass the word and join the song.

Rehearsals are on Thursday's and will be held at the Methodist Church, Woodbury. Time will be from 6;15 - 7:15 PM. This time and location is in effect until further notice.
We will primarily be singing at the 10:45 mass twice a month and I will have the schedule to you at our first rehearsal. This will be an opportunity to come right from religious education to Mass!
Christmas Musical will be happening this year (not sure where but... I will keep you posted!)

Youth Scripture Reflection
St. Teresa's New Youth Scripture Reflection will explore the Bible in a way that teens can relate to, covering the scriptures of the week to give them new insight and allow them to discuss the readings and how they address their issues today. All high school aged teens are invited to join this Youth Bible Study led by Kathrine Rutledge & Tina Walewski. The group will meet twice a month on the first and third Monday at 6:30PM in the Parish Office Downstairs. Bring your Bible & your ideas for future studies. Serving our Young People at St. Teresa of Avila
According to the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops, the hard work of countless leaders in parishes, schools, and dioceses across the United States has produced effective approaches, strategies, programs, and activities for adolescents in our parish. We also have learned that no one strategy, activity, or program is adequate to the task of promoting the our goals for ministry with adolescents and that families, parishes, and schools cannot work in isolation if the Church is to realize its goals. We have learned that it takes the entire Church to achieve the goals we have established for ministry with adolescents.

Today, we propose a framework for integrating the Church's ministry with adolescents that incorporates a broader, expanded, and more comprehensive vision. First articulated in A Vision of Youth Ministry and developed more fully over the past two decades, the comprehensive approach is a framework for integration rather than a specific model.

The comprehensive approach is not a single program or recipe for ministry. Rather, it provides a way for integrating ministry with adolescents and their families into the total life and mission of the Church, recognizing that the whole community is responsible for this ministry. The comprehensive approach uses all of our resources as a faith community—people, ministries, programs—in a common effort to promote the goals of the Church's ministry with adolescents.

The goals for ministry with adolescents help to keep our vision focused on the objectives. The themes provide a continuous thread that ensures that ministry with adolescents utilizes all available resources and is all-inclusive. The components highlight specific areas of ministry for a comprehensive approach. By offering this framework, we seek to provide direction to the Church's ministry and to affirm and encourage local creativity.

The comprehensive framework for ministry with adolescents is designed to:

  • utilize each of the Church's ministries—advocacy, catechesis, community life, evangelization, justice and service, leadership development, pastoral care, prayer and worship—in an integrated approach to achieving the three goals for ministry with adolescents;
  • provide developmentally appropriate programs and activities that promote personal and spiritual growth for young and older adolescents;
  • enrich family life and promote the faith growth of families of adolescents;
  • incorporate young people fully into all aspects of church life and engage them in ministry and leadership in the faith community;
  • create partnerships among families, schools, churches, and community organizations in a common effort to promote positive youth development.
